Are you a Louisiana homeowner looking to protect your home and save on insurance? You may qualify for up to $10,000 in grant funding through the Louisiana Fortify Homes Program — but the clock is ticking.
In a recent Instagram Live, I was joined by Chad Dabney of Total Home NOLA, a certified Fortified Roof evaluator, to break down everything homeowners need to know about this opportunity — including what makes a roof “FORTIFIED,” how to apply, and why acting before the September 12th, 2025 deadline is critical.
🔎 What Is the Fortify Homes Program?
The Louisiana Fortify Homes Program, run by the Louisiana Department of Insurance, helps eligible homeowners upgrade their roofs to meet FORTIFIED construction standards, designed to withstand high winds, hail, and hurricane damage.
Successful applicants can receive up to $10,000 in grant funding.
🛠 What Is a FORTIFIED Roof?
A FORTIFIED roof goes beyond basic building codes. It’s specifically engineered to:
Resist high wind and storm damage
Prevent water intrusion
Lower insurance premiums in many cases
Extend roof lifespan with proven techniques
Chad shared how certified evaluators ensure the roof meets IBHS FORTIFIED standards, adding an extra layer of safety and security for Louisiana homeowners.
📋 Who Qualifies for the FORTIFIED Roof Grant in Louisiana?
To apply, homeowners must:
Live in a single-family, owner-occupied home
Have homeowner's insurance
Be in a parish included in the program
Use a FORTIFIED-certified evaluator and contractor
Chad stressed the importance of using certified professionals like those at Total Home NOLA, who understand the documentation and build requirements.
🗓 Don’t Miss the Deadline
The current application lottery closes on September 12, 2025 so if you’re considering this upgrade in Louisiana, now is the time to act to receive a FORTIFIED roof grant.
